POLL: Should you be able to take photos at a concert?
By Justin Eveloff on August 2, 2012 at 2:12 pm, in Omaha Concert News
Jack White will be performing Monday at the Omaha Music Hall to a sold out crowd. The show sold out in minutes. Apparently, Mr. White does not like photos being taken of him (or his band, his crew, his family and friends, and his tour equipment for that matter). He also does not want his fans to “report” of his show on any social network. Why you ask? Well according to a Facebook post on the Omaha Civic Auditorium’s page, “Mr. White and crew like privacy and discreetness of touring.” Apparently touring and performing in front of hundreds is a private matter. Here’s the full post:
Please note for those attending the JACK WHITE concert on Monday — Absolutely no unsanctioned mobile phone and still photos, video, and audio recording of Jack White, his band, his crew, his family and friends, and his tour equipment whilst in the venue or directly outside of the venue. All Social networking sites such as but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, etc. are discouraged in the reporting of and or display of any portion of Jack’s touring operation until well after the performance is over. Jack White and crew like privacy and discreetness of touring. Anticipation of the unknown and genuine surprise are encouraged at a Jack White concert. Professionally shot show photos, taken by Jack’s tour photographer, are available next day to download for free from jackwhiteiii.com. Thank you!

We think this is pretty extreme, as do all of the people commenting on the Facebook post (at the time this article was written). We understand not being allowed to take professional pictures at a concert, but on a cell phone? Not being able to tweet that your favorite song is being played? Sure, you should go to a concert just to watch the show, but everyone enjoys their concerts differently. What do you think? If you pay for a ticket, should you be able to use your phone and/or take pictures? Vote in the poll below and sound off in the comments!

If I pay for a ticket, why can’t I take pictures? I know some people are really annoying with their cameras, but if you’re polite, who cares? If Jack White wants so much privacy, maybe he shouldn’t be an entertainer or tour?
